Vibration characteristic analysis of fluid-filled pipe with general boundary conditions

  • Objectives This study seeks to carry out the vibration and noise prediction of a ship conveying pipe under arbitrary boundary conditions.
Methods A 14-equation fluid-structure interaction model of a straight pipe is taken as the basis, the impedance synthesis method is used to establish a dynamic model of the space pipeline, and the artificial spring method is employed to realize the general boundary conditions in the impedance matrix. The finite element verification of the natural frequency of the space pipeline is carried out to further study the influence of elastic boundary stiffness on the natural frequency. Finally, the experimental verification of the transfer function calculation of the pipeline in the two states of hollow and fluid-filled is carried out in the laboratory.
Results It is found that the method in this paper can simulate the arbitrary elastic boundaries of pipeline installation in actual engineering, and the influence of torsional stiffness is more sensitive than that of shear stiffness.
Conclusions The calculation method and research results herein can provide valuable references for the acoustic design of pipeline systems.
