Study on deformation law and energy absorption characteristics of improved BCC structure under quasi-static compression

  • To improve the mechanical properties of lattice structures under lightweight conditions, this paper proposed an improved BCC (Body Centered Cubic) lattice structure (BCCZ) based on the method of multi-configurational combination design. The mechanical properties and energy absorption characteristics of BCCZ and BCC lattice structures under quasi-static compressive loading were compared and analyzed through compression tests. The mechanical properties and energy absorption characteristics of BCC and BCCZ lattice structures with different diameter-to-length ratios (D/L) were first compared and analyzed numerically, exploring the influence of the diameter-to-length ratio on the compression performance of lattice structures. The results show that as the diameter-to-length ratio increases, the elastic modulus, compressive strength, and specific energy absorption of both lattice structures increase. The performance of BCCZ lattice structure in these three aspects is better than that of BCC lattice structure. The compressive strength of BCCZ lattice structure is always greater than that of BCC lattice structure, and the improvement rate is greater than 100%. However, the overall improvement rate of compressive strength has a downward trend, and the efficiency of specific energy absorption improvement is increasingly obvious. The relevant research results are helpful to the design of the new energy absorption and protection structure of ships.
