Abstract
The study systematically reviews and interprets the guidelines on composite materials (FRP) from international maritime organizations (IMO) and leading classification societies such as DNV, BV, and CCS. It analyzes the shortcomings in performance standards, risk control, and verification systems for FRP applications in ships. Based on these issues, it identifies key research directions for FRP materials, aiming to advance inspection technologies and maintenance systems for FRP in shipbuilding. Finally, a framework for the engineering implementation of FRP materials throughout the ship's lifecycle that covering construction and operation is proposed, laying a technical foundation for the safe, green, and intelligent application of FRP in shipbuilding.
