Calculation of Section Property Parameters for the Thin-Walled Hull Beam

Four methods of section modeling in the calculation of the section property parameters for the thin-walled hull beam are introduced. Numerical results of the section property parameters obtained by using these methods for a standard ship section are analyzed, it shows that the traditional equivalent method of simplifying the areas of the longitudinal to the thickness of the plating is applicable to the bending-torsional strength a ssessment for the ships with large-deck-opening.
