Abstract
The strength evaluation of composite propellers under hydrodynamic loads is studied in this paper. Firstly, the hydrodynamic load of the propeller fluid model is calculated under the designed working condition with ANSYS/CFD software. Then, the hydrodynamic load is applied on the propeller structure model through INP files with ABAQUS software. Next, the structural strength evaluation of composite propellers is studied by analyzing the possible failure modes on different ply angles based on Hashin failure criterion. Finally, the simulation calculation and static strength test of the propeller model is carried out. During the calculation and validation tests, the hydrodynamic pressure load is regarded as equivalent to the concentration load on the basis of the stress equivalent principle. The results show that the theoretical calculation is consistent with the test and the maximum error is within 9%, which verifies the reliability of the composite propeller strength evaluation method.
